4th Grades at Covington School got a visit from a Screech Owl on behalf of the Little Red School House. Students in Mrs. Monroy’s class have been studying birds of prey in class and coming in contact with a live animal brought their learning to life!
“Our students have been researching birds of prey to work on informational reading skills and writing skills. They have been creating presentations on birds of prey to share with each other to develop their speaking and listening skills,” said Mrs. Monroy.
From getting to hold giant talons from eagles and get up close and personal with an owl pellet the students got to learn first hand about the animals. The Screech Owl was rescued by the Little Red Schoolhouse after he was found blind in his right eye.
